When people hear that I attend an online school, they usually imagine me sitting in front of a screen all day. The reality is much more interesting – and, honestly, more fun.
Most people assume my day consists of waking up, joining classes, eating, and then going back to sleep. In reality, my day is much more structured. Before the day begins, I usually make a plan the night before. It acts as a rough outline of what I want my day to look like and helps me stay focused and organised.
Even though I study from home, I have learnt that discipline is key to becoming a successful online student. Unlike students in physical schools, I do not have teachers constantly keeping an eye on me, so it is up to me to pay attention, take notes, and stay on task. This has helped me become more independent and responsible.
During classes, I join lessons through online platforms, take notes, and sometimes answer questions and participate in discussions. Teachers often use slides, videos, quizzes, and past papers, which make lessons more interactive and help me understand concepts better. One thing I particularly enjoy is having access to recorded classes, as this allows me to review lessons whenever I need extra help.
After classes, I spend time revising my notes and completing assignments. This helps me stay on track and avoid leaving my work until the last minute. Once my schoolwork is finished, I can relax, spend time with my family, or focus on my hobbies.
Overall, online school has taught me much more than just academic subjects. It has helped me become more independent and disciplined, while also improving my time-management skills. While some people think online students spend all day staring at a screen, there is actually a lot more that goes on behind the scenes.
For me, online learning has been a rewarding experience that has helped me grow both as a student and as a person.
